Read a short note from Dr. Amit Arwindekar about World Meditation Day:

Today is World Meditation Day, a celebration of the power of meditation to support health and well-being. With the growing focus on whole-person health, meditation has become an increasingly important part of the health landscape as many people seek to use mindfulness to bolster their physical and mental wellbeing.

In today’s modern world it can be all-too easy to slip into bad habits and neglect your own wellbeing to meet daily deadlines and obligations. Importantly, various studies have shown how mindfulness can reduce stress, improve focus, and strengthen memory.1 Neuroscientists have also found that as little as 12 minutes of meditation per day can help enhance a person’s ability to pay attention.2 Recent studies also show that guided meditation can improve work performance, enhancing the brain’s ability to notice and prevent errors.3

To help people become more mindful, UnitedHealthcare Global’s Optum My Wellbeing and Sanvello apps are digital platforms designed to help create positive behavioural changes, including consistent daily exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep. With a wide array of resources to help understand how your body, mind and lifestyle can impact your overall health, members can join online activities to help support their wellbeing.4
